Fruit and Nut Chili

Ingredients

1 chopped onion
1 minced clove garlic
2 16-ounce cans tomatoes, chopped
15-ounce can tomato sauce
14-1/2 ounce can chicken broth
2 green bell peppers
2 4-ounce cans diced green chilies
2 tart apples, chopped
1 tbsp chili powder
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp cinnamon
2 15-ounce cans red kidney beans, drained
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup seedless raisins
1/2 cup low-fat cheese
1/2 cup fat-free sour cream

Instructions

In a Dutch overn, cook onion and garlic in oil until tender. Stir in tomatoes (with liquid), tomato sauce, chicken broth, peppers, green chilies (drained), apples, chili powder, cocoa, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add kidney beans and almonds. Cook uncovered for 10 minutes. Serve topped with raisins, cheese and sour cream.
