Turnips come in many different sizes and shapes. They can be round, flat, cylindrical, yellow, white, green, red and even purple. In general, the larger the turnip, the more pungent the flavour. The tiny white salad turnips are crisp and have a mild taste. The tops of the salad turnip, compared to the more common, larger turnip, are tender and delicately flavor. The tops and the roots of the salad turnips can be eaten raw, steamed, or cooked for a delicious meal.
