We’ve all heard that garlic is good for us. Here are some of the potential health benefits of garlic according to Health Central (www.healthcentral.com):
-Garlic is believed to lower cholesterol
-It is also thought to be a powerful anticoagulant (slows blood clotting)
-It is thought to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strok
-Garlic corrects irregular heart rhythms and lowers blood pressure
-It has powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties
-It is also thought to prevent cancer and reduce blood sugar levels
Historically, garlic has been used to repel scorpions and other “beasts.” Mixed with honey, it was used for shrew and dog bites, and mixed with vinegar, it was used to relieve toothaches. It was also use as an aphrodisiac when taken with wine and coriander.
In addition to these benefits, garlic is delicious. It can be served cooked or raw, by itself or with a combination of other ingredients.
