Basic Refried Beans
Recipe for Category Grains & Beans

Ingredients
2cps cooked beans (see below)
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 cp chopped onions
3 cloves chopped garlic
1 cp chopped pepper
2 tsp fresh-ground cumin
˝ tsp chili powder
1 tsp sea salt
splash of tamari or Bragg’s
fresh cilantro (if available)
Instructions
1.Heat oil in cast-iron pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and seasonings; sauté 2-3 minutes.
2. Add garlic and pepper; sauté 3-5 min.
3. Add your choice of cooked beans (we love black beans!); mix together.
4. Heat thoroughly, adding some of the bean cooking liquid if necessary, and mash with a potato masher.
5. Season to taste, and enjoy!
