(Adapted from Angie’s Kitchen – a hit with all my friends and family! It took me a long time to perfect this recipe, but now it is fail-safe. These burgers taste much better than those you buy in the grocery store, and you can add your own favourite flavours to make them unique and delicious!)
2 Eggs (fork beaten)¾ C of Cooked Brown Rice¼ C Onions (chopped)2 C Button mushrooms (chopped finely)¾ C Breadcrumbs¼ tsp Worcestershire sauce (or more)¼ C Grated CheeseSalt and pepper to taste
Other options:
Try adding hot peppers, bell peppers, chives, parsley, dill, or anything else that will make these burgers irresistible.
The instructions are simple: mix all ingredients together and chill for 30 minutes. Form into burger sized patties. These burgers must be baked before being barbequed. Place them on a baking tray and bake at 375° until both sides are golden brown (about 15-20 minutes each side). Spray with oil or non-stick cooking spray before barbequing.
Note: These burgers freeze well. We usually double or quadruple the recipe and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months – great for those quick dinners, last minute barbeques or unannounced guests!)
