Tsolum River Mulled Apple Juice

Ingredients
6 cups apple juice/cider (we used Brookside Orchard apple juice made from certified organic apples)
2 oranges, zest and juice
4 Tbsp clear honey
6 whole cloves
1/2 lemon, juiced
1 whole star anise
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
1 tsp dark rum, warm (optional)
1 Tbsp brandy, warm (optional)
1 whole cinnamon stick
Instructions
Put all ingredients except the brandy and rum in a non-reactive saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes until flavours have infused. Strain through a sieve, and add warmed rum and brandy. Pour into decorative glasses and garnish with apple slice and cinnamon stick.
